Mike Tyson Files Trademark for “Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League”

Mike Tyson Files Trademark for “Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League”Los Angeles – Eros Innovations LLC has recently filed 21 trademarks for “Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League.” This league, first announced in late July, will feature competitions between retired athletes. Although the Legends Only League is championed by Mike Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world, the intention of the league is to host famous athletes from a number of different sports, including tennis, basketball, and boxing.

Eros Innovations filed three different types of trademarks bearing the Legends Only League moniker: a standard character mark protecting “Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League,” a black and white logo containing the swirls and an eye mirroring Mike Tyson’s famous face tattoo, and a black, white, and blue color trademark with the logo and stylized lettering promoting the league.

The first competition in the Legends Only League will be a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition fight on September 12. The fight has already generated a lot of excitement on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram, where one million people have already viewed the video shared by Mike Tyson announcing the match. The fight will be held at the Dignity Health Sports Park at California State University and streamed on Pay-Per-View and streaming site Triller. No other games or matches have been announced yet.
Although Mike Tyson hasn’t competed in his sport since 2005, he has become a pop culture phenomenon, with cameo roles in movies like The Hangover, The Hangover Part II and Rocky Balboa as well as TV shows like “How I Met Your Mother.” His opponent, Roy Jones Jr., was competing professionally until 2018, and was named heavyweight champion of the world in 2003.

In addition to protecting the videos of the sports competition themselves, the trademark applications seek to protect a variety of sports gear including: boxing gloves, footballs, volleyballs, baseball gloves, skateboards, hats, athletic shoes, t-shirts, leg, wrist, and ankle weights, gym bags, water bottles, towels, and nutritional supplements. Each trademark is currently listed as an intent-to-use under filing basis 1B. If the Legends Only League is as popular as the initial announcement seems to suggest, then we will certainly see this merchandise being used in commerce in the years to come.

Eros Innovations, LLC, is a Delaware company formed in 2020. It is affiliated with Eros Now, an Indian OTT streaming service similar to Netflix or Hulu. Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League is Eros Innovations, LLC’s first project.
Mike Tyson is not listed as a trademark owner on the new filings. However, he owns a number of other registered trademarks such as “Iron Mike Productions” for organization of boxing matches, “Bite the Mic,” for a podcast series, and “Undisputed Truth” for t-shirts and other clothing. He also owns the trademark for his name for use in relation to boxing matches, sports equipment including baseballs, clothing, and posters.
