Professional fees to research the issues and prepare and FedEx a trademark or copyright related cease and desist letter‚ or research and prepare a response. For patent issues add $500.
2. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) Cases
Our trademark attorney flat fee to research the issues and prepare and file a Trademark Opposition, Trademark Cancellation, or an Answer. As Plaintiff add a $600 government filing cost per class of goods or services.
3. Initiating IP Litigation in Federal or State Court
Our typical Intellectual Property litigation retainer ranges from $5‚000-$15‚000 depending on the status of the matter‚ the issues‚ and the anticipated defense.
4. U.S. or International Trademark Applications
Our trademark attorney flat fee for a trademark application. U.S. applications include professional fees to prepare and file the Trademark Application and basic follow up through registration‚ including basic communication with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office if necessary after filing and status updates. Add $250 in government filing cost per class of goods/services in the U.S. Add $200 for each additional trademark class beyond 3 for U.S. Applications, for International Applications add $800 which includes our time to prepare and file only. Additional fees apply for Responses to Office Actions if necessary and for Intent to Use applications.

Often the first step in acquiring trademark protection is a trademark search. Includes all costs for the search and a legal memorandum by a trademark attorney. Add $200 for each additional trademark class beyond 3. For the Search‚ we use special trademark software to search the trademark office, and we also search business names, domain names and the Internet and then report the results to you in a 2-5-page memo.
6. Comprehensive U.S. Trademark Search
This trademark attorney flat fee includes our professional fee for review of the comprehensive search report and a 2-5 page Memo which summarizes the search results . This is the search performed by Fortune 500 companies and is the most thorough means of clearing trademark rights. The price includes our vendor’s cost for the search report.
7. U.S. Copyright Application
Includes the government filing fee‚ our professional fees to prepare and file the Copyright Application‚ status updates‚ and forwarding of the copyright registration certificate if received.
8. U.S. Patent Search
Includes our professional fees and our vendor’s cost for the search. A patent search is always recommended‚ but is not required and may not be completely effective to clear patent rights.
9. U.S. or International Patent Applications
Flat fees include professional fees to prepare and file the Patent Application and professional drawings: Design Application $2500; Mechanical invention $12‚500; Electrical‚ Business Method‚ or Software $17‚500; Biotech‚ Chemical and complex inventions $19‚500. The first step is to hire us for the Patent Search shown above. Expect government filing and registration costs of an additional $660 for design patents or $1300 for the others. Turnaround time is usually 4-6 weeks.
